U12s York 3 Barnsley 0

York Under 12’s got back to winning ways with a hard fought 3-0 victory away to south Yorkshire rivals Barnsley. In wet and windy conditions York found Barnsley very difficult to breakdown despite playing the better football, but just before half-time Luke Morris scored his first goal representing his city to put York 1-0 up at the break. The second half very much followed the pattern of the first half with Barnsley putting in strong last ditch tackles and then trying to catch York on the break so when Morris latched onto a Charlie King pass and slotted home for his second of the game on 40 minutes the game finally look won at 2-0. With only 5 minutes remaining Lucas Frankish stepped up scored York’s tird and final goal from a very well taken free kick. Luke Morris won York’s man of the match award but good displays were also put in from Dan Allinson and goal scorer Lucas Frankish.
