U12s York 3 Harrogate and Craven 0

York Schoolboys under 12’s recorded their second league victory of 2014 with a hard fought win against Harrogate and Craven. The game started with Harrogate dominating both ball and possession but thanks to stout defending from York’s back four of Joe Hobson, Jamie Higginbotham, Lucas Wilson and Charlie king this dominance was not converted into goals.

Halfway into the first period York settled down and now began to look dangerous on the break. It was in on one of these counter attacks that York striker Joe Crosby latched onto a through ball and calmly tucked the ball into the net from an acute angle to give York a 1-0 lead after 18 mins.

Half time came and Harrogate could count themselves unfortunate to be losing but the second half was completely dominated by the York boys and when Crosby got his second after fine work down the right by the ever hard working Charlie Ward York looked comfortable at 2-0 in front.

Dominic Jackson sealed the win with a fine solo goal near the end to giv York all three points with a 3-0 win. Prolific York striker Joe Crosby was named York’s man of the match but a fine team display was order of the day.
