U11s York 5-0 Redcar & Cleveland

York under 11 schoolboy footballers produced another fine display to defeat visitors Redcar and Cleveland 5-0 at York University.

The first half witnessed York starting the stronger of the two teams forcing early corners one of which after only 8 minutes was flicked on at the near post by Adam Clarkson then finished off at the far post by Fraser Clarke 1-0 York.

York continued to dominate the lion’s share of possession reducing Redcar to playing on the break but fine defensive displays from Paul Iggulden and Ryan Evans ensured York were going to keep a clean sheet.

Meanwhile at the other end of the pitch Liam Mainprize grabbed two more goals to leave the York boys with a comfortable 3-0 half-time lead.

The second period followed the same pattern first half pattern with York playing some fine flowing attacking football and it was no surprise when two further goals from Noah Morgan and Adam Clarkson to leave a final 5-0 win for the York boys.

Paul Iggulden was named York’s man of the match for a fine defensive display but valuable contributions were made by the whole squad particularly Liam Mainprize and Adam Clarkson.
