U11s York 0-2 Leeds A

Saturday, we welcomed a tougher test to our home ground. Leeds Schoolboys were bringing their A team to this game.

This was always going to be a test from early in the week. The team had been struck a few blows; illness, injury, a Christening and a photo-shoot were to hinder the performance on Saturday.

We set off a at good pace and had 2 or 3 chances to get on the scoresheet, but we just couldn’t pop the ball in the onion bag.

Chances fell to Ben who worked tirelessly up front and Louie. Our boys didn’t deserve to go 1 v 0 down to a penalty from an accidental hand as the back 3 were again proving they had a resilience about them; and with the Vocal Stan behind guiding we looked solid back there.

Stan pulling off a couple of 1 v 1 saves to keep us in the game at all times.

The boys came off after the 1st 20 minutes with their heads down. 0v1. This was something that after the tournament and the 1st two games they were not used to. The fight attitude was required….

More chances came and went for both teams, but the Leeds boys then took another chance to make the score 0 v 2. A decent finish from a whipped in corner.

Again, nothing much between the teams. Stan making another few good saves and Ben creating more and more chances but just failing to find the net. It just seemed to get tougher and tougher in the end as the injuries kept on coming, Brogan, Max and Reuben picking up knocks.

We go again next game. Performance and attitude. #YSB
