U11s York 7-2 Mark Barber Soccer School

Saturday was a brilliant day for the kids. I hope they and all the parents enjoyed the presentation and handout of all the free kit… One lucky age group!!!!

The game play was also brilliant this weekend. The boys stepped up a gear against a strong team that came from Scarborough. From the off the boys looked up for it with movement, talking and team play. A lot of joy was had down the wings this week. The lads sticking to positions and finding the right passes.
The first quarter saw the goals come straight from a corner from Reuben Smith – if you ask him he meant it… Ben Farrar and James Borlase worked well attacking down the right wing to finally set up Cam McMillans first goal of the game and then Ben Farrar using what can be described as a strong shoulder that sent the defender back to Scarborough to slot another past the keeper. MBSS replied in this quarter also making it 3 v 1 at the break.

The 2nd quarter saw chances coming and going for Max Rhodes and Reuben Smith. Then on the edge of the box Ben Farrar hit a great half Volley from Reuben Smiths superb control using the family Jewels, the keeper just tipping it round the post! Another goal came from a corner with a strike by Cam Macmillan again.
Jimmy Hendon and Louie Regan were looking comfortable in the bottom right corner playing their way out of danger with one twos and great movement creating the triangles. Eugene Revill was also called into action in this quarter making some good saves and tipping one over the bar. On the attack again saw Matty Ellison score from in the box with a half volley. A sixth then came from some battling work and tackling via Max Rhodes that then set up Matty Ellison for his 2nd of the game. York 6 v 1 MBSS

The 3rd quarter saw MBSS grow in confidence and make more of a contest of the match. But still the York lads kept on going and trying to play the right way. Brogan  Dunne with a great goal-line clearance to keep MBSS out. Max Rhodes getting involved in the goals in this quarter from a driving run forward and a finish into the bottom corner of the goal. York 7 v 1 MBSS

The 4th quarter and we made a couple of positional changes, willing the very reliable defender Jimmy Hendon to get a goal at a chance up front… Jimmy gave us everything but a goal upfront. Next time Jimmy!!!
MBSS got even stronger in this quarter and this quarter belonged to them as they got another goal from some good play.
