York’s last home game of the season was a frustrating affair as a dominant display did not reflect the score. It took a second half Finn Davis goal to earn the well deserved win, but not without two late scares that almost cost York.

York dominated possession throughout and the best chances of the first half fell to Charlie Goodwin and Olaf Gorczyczewski, forcing a great save from the Rotherham keeper. At the back Luca Long was excellent as he marshalled the defence. 0-0 at half time despite the dominance of York. Second half continued in the same fashion as York now upped the tempo. Chances went a begging as Bodhi Justice, Isaac Arif, Charlie Anderson and Ewan Daly all forced saves from the keeper. Eventually the deadlock was broken when Daly played in Davis to place the ball in the top corner.

York pushed for the second goal but it proved elusive and were almost punished twice. The final chance was a real let off as the Rotherham player struck the post at the death. It would’ve been cruel on York, but such is the nature of football. In the end another good win as the boys head to their final game next week against East Riding.

Final Score: York & District 1 – 0 Rotherham
