U12s York 8-2 Leeds

Leeds were the visitors to York on Saturday for a top of the table clash, they were looking to maintain their 100% record and remain in top spot, however York were eyeing up the chance to jump their West Yorkshire rivals and take their place.

The game started with York taking control and went in search for an early goal, they didn’t have to wait long, the ball was worked out to the the left wing to Jack Huddlestone who whipped in a delicious cross only to find his brother Harry making a strong run in to the box, rising like a salmon to head the ball in to the bottom right hand corner, 1-0 York.

York grasped the initiative and caught Leeds on the back foot, in a mad 15 minutes  Ben Farrar grabbed a superb hat trick, the best goal being the third, the ball was worked from left to right, through the midfield where it found Jamie Kay on the right wing , he delivered a quality cross that found Farrar who rifled it in in to the net with his left foot.

To their credit Leeds kept battling and didn’t let their heads drop, they created some good opportunities, the half time score line could have been so different if it wasn’t for Eugene Reville in the York goal pulling off a number of fantastic saves.

York went in to half time 4-0

The second half again saw York come out and play some excellent football, playing quick passes that created more opportunities, it wasn’t long before the Leeds net again started to take some punishment. Ozzy Shaw netting twice, Harry Huddlestone netting his second and Farrar again finding the net for his fourth and York’s eighth.

Leeds managed to score 2 consolation goals.

Full time saw a well deserved victory for York winning 8-2, and taking top spot.
