U15 York 3 Hambleton & Richmond 1

York Schoolboys Under 15s continued their impressive recent form when they outplayed a strong Hambleton & Richmond team eventually running out comfortable 3-1 winners on a bog of a pitch.

York started the game brightly and never looked back from the moment George Brown showed quick feet on the bye line before beating the keeper at his near post with less than 10 minutes played.

The visitors did have some defending to do in a wide open game but Jarrad Benson was again in commanding form at the heart of the defence. York also bossed the midfield with Man of the match Elliot Fenton outstanding in his work rate and ball distribution often making light of the difficult conditions.

However, it was midfield partner Luca Colville who gave York breathing space with a rapid fire brace that put his team 3-0 to the good. Firstly a brilliant strike found the top right hand corner and a few minutes later his long range effort from a central position sailed over the keeper and into the net via a deflection.

Hambleton briefly threatened second period as York shuffled the pack but Bailey Fleming continued the good work in the back four while Ben Burdett shored up midfield and prompted further attacking raids down the flanks.

The home team did score a consolation goal with a tidy finish from inside the box but never really threatened to build on it and York finished the game the stronger. Alex Wilson again linked up play well down the right and Jamie Spaven looked dangerous from wide left and following a sweeping move Spaven slipped in Adam Wilson but the prolific striker for once squandered the opportunity.

York ended the game on the front foot without adding to the score line but the damage was done during a dominant first half in another excellent all round team performance that keeps them bang there at the top of the league with 3 home games left to play.
