U12s York 0 Sheffield 3

York under 12’s lost their unbeaten start to the season to an excellent Sheffield side. From the start Sheffield dominated the early exchanges and forced early chances which York managed to repel. Ultimately the pressure told on 12 minutes when York tried to clear their defence but an unfortunate rebound of a Sheffield player deflected the ball into the York net. York did play in spells but the final ball seemed to be lacking and when the half-time whistle went at 1-0 despite all the pressure absorbed York were still in the game.

The second period however continued as the first with Sheffield dominating possession and York trying to hit on the break. Dominic Jackson went closest for York from a free kick but Sheffield put the game out of reach with goals on 37 and 44 minutes despite the brave efforts of York keeper Harry Griffiths. Dan Allinson was named York’s man of the match for his determined defensive efforts but shifts were also put in from Oliver Smith, Joseph Hobson and Charlie Cresswell.
