U12s York 5 Wakefield 1

York under 12’s Schoolboys maintained their unbeaten run for 2014 with a comprehensive 5-1 victory against Wakefield Schools.

The first half was completely dominated by York but a wealth of chances went begging before Dominic Jackson scored twice on 14 and 21 minutes to put York 2-0 in front. However just before the break Wakefield broke away and earned a free-kick which was calmly stroked into the top corner despite the fingertip touch from York Keeper Aaron Burn.

Wakefield seem to see a window of opportunity and came out in the second half and created what should have been and equalising goal but for the fine defending of Lucas Wilson. York now re-gathered their composure and started to dominate possession again this resulted in further goals from Dan Allinson, Joe Crosby and pick of the bunch from Sam Newsome to leave York slightly flattered at 5-1 victors.
