21.09.13 U12 York 4 Hull 3

York Under 12’s kept their winning start to the season in tact after a tremendous 4-3 home victory over last year’s league winners Hull. The game started at a frenetic pace and Hull created three great goal scoring opportunities before York could catch their breath, fortunately a combination of fine goalkeeping from Aaron Burn and the woodwork kept the score at 0-0.

Hull finally got what they deserved when their lively striker scored on 14 mins to put them 1-0 up. York Finally settled into the game and when Charlie Cresswell slotted home after fine work down York’s right wing to level at 1-1 a classic was on the cards. Hull continued to press but again last ditch defending from Joseph Hobson and Jamie Higginbotham kept the score at 1-1 at half time. After Hull dominating the first half it was now York’s chance to take the game to Hull and that they did creating early chances that eventually Joe Crosby seized upon one of these to score from close range to put York 2-1 in front. The game continued as an end to end contest with chances at both ends but York again took theirs when debut midfielder Lucas Frankisk scored direct from a well delivered corner to York 3-1 up with only 11 minutes to go. Back came Hull with two goals in 6 minutes to make it 3-3 but this game was never going to be a draw and when Dominic Jackson headed home a York corner in the last minute a pulsating game was brought to a finish with York shading an entertaining game 4-3. York Keeper Aaron Burn was named man of the match after a fine solo display keeping York in the games early on.
