U11s York 1-3 Sheffield Blues
York Schoolboys tasted defeat for the first time this season when they were defeated 3-1 against Sheffield Blues one of two teams representing Sheffield Schools.
The game was very fortunate to escape the weather and Sheffield started the stronger of the two teams with a strong wind at their back their mix of nice short passing with long ball was causing York defensive problems and it was no surprise when Sheffield pounced on a failed clearance to make it 1-0 after 14 minutes.
The score remained so into the second of the three 20 minute periods but nom York utilised the breeze and piled on the pressure in what was to be their strongest phase of the game, so it was no surprise when Jack Hughes pounced on a Myles Jackson free kick to level it at 1-1.
York now had two or three good chances but superb last ditch defending kept Sheffield level.
The last twenty minutes was completely dominated by Sheffield and when a long range effort sailed over the York keeper to make it 2-1 York were stunned. Despite a last five minute push driven on by midfielder Oliver Kilvington York were caught on the break to score again to leave Sheffield 3-1 winners.
York will have to re-group quickly as they face the stronger Sheffield Clarets this Saturday
