U11s Barnsley 2-8 York
York under 11’s Schoolboy footballers returned from Barnsley with a resounding 8-2 away Victory.
The first 10 minutes was a tight affair but the deadlock was eventually broken when Ellis Cattaneo opened the scoring from close range on 14 minutes after fine work from Matthew Barber. York went 2-0 up soon after when Harrison Cain scored ghosting in from the left and slotting home.
Barnsley showed resolve and got back into the game when the otherwise outstanding Will Hotson was rolled at centre back by the Barnsley striker who scored right in the bottom corner 2-1 York.
The second 20 minute period was where York ran away with the game the introduction of Tom Algar and Max Ezzard seemed to give York the edge and with further goals in this period from Matthew Barber, Matthew Dawes, Tom Algar and goal of the game from Kaiden Butler witnessed York surge 5-1 in front with only one 20 minute period remaining.
In that final period York rounded off a fine team performance with two more goals from Kaiden Butler and Tom Algar who both completed their brace of goals for the game, Barnsley got their second and final goal of the game despite a fine initial save from York stopper Noah Ellis the rebound was hammered home to leave the final score 8-2 to York.
