U14s York 7-2 Barnsley

York Schoolboys Under 14’s today entertained Barnsley in their last friendly  before the start of this seasons league campaign.

From the kick off York applied early pressure on the Barnsley defence without creating any clear cut opportunities. Then on 7 minutes Barnsley mount a counter attack and take the lead. York again continue to apply pressure and win a corner following a defensive clearance, which is taken by Lucas Frankish and is met by a Will Anderson header which is cleared off the line, with the ball falling to Miles Buckle who pokes  home to level the scores.

Barnsley then take the lead again when the York defence allow a cross to come into the box which is headed into the net by the Barnsley striker. Again York respond and draw level when a through ball from Joe Crosby finds Manni de Nobriga who bursts through the Barnsley defence to level the scores at 2-2. York then take the lead when a long clearance from the York defence allows De Nobriga to race through and chip the advancing Barnsley keeper to make it 3-2 to York on 26 minutes.

York are now taking control of the game and score again on the half hour when Ben Barker Spencer lays the ball to Lucas Wilson who rifles the ball home from 20 yards. The Barnsley keeper makes another good save from Ben Barker Spencer following good work from De Nobriga down the right hand flank. De Nobriga then completes an impressive first half hat-trick on 33 minutes to make the half time score 5-2 to York at half time.

At the start of the second half York continue to press and 8 minutes into the second half Lucas Wilson gets his second goal with a 25 yard strike.

York round of the scoring five minutes from time when good link up play in the midfield creates a chance for Joe Crosby to fire home to make the final score 7-2.

Following last weeks defeat to Leeds it was good to see the squad bounce back today with a confident victory over a tricky opposition.
