U11s York 2-3 East Riding

York under 11’s Schoolboy footballers played there part in a thrilling encounter at York University against a strong East Riding outfit.

The visitors made a flying start with an intensity York were struggling to contain and East Riding found themselves 3-0 up after the first 20 minute period with a display of fine football and clinical finishing.

York managed to hang in the game in the second 20 minute period with some fine defending from York man of the match Will Hotson and then just before the break a goal out of nothing from Owen Dunckley gave York a lifeline.

The final 20 minutes witnessed York show tremendous spirit to produce a fightback that so nearly got them a draw.

Tom Algar converted a free-kick from 18 yards to narrow the score to 3-2 and then in the final five minutes both Kaiden Butler and Ellis Cattaneo had point blank headers saved by the excellent East Riding goalkeeper to leave the final score at 3-2 to East Riding in pulsating game.
