U11s York 6-2 Nottingham

York under 11 schoolboy footballers extended their unbeaten league run with a work man like 6-2 home victory over visitors Nottingham Schools.

York began the game on the front foot and dominated both possession and half chances but after squandering many half chances finally on 12 minutes Liam Mainprize tapped in at the far post after getting the benefit of a tight off side call to put York 1-0 up.

Just before half-time Nottingham hit York on the break and slotted home the equaliser to leave the half-time score 1-1.

York came out in the second half and this time converted their first two chances with goals from Fraser Clarke then Mainprize collected his second to leave York 3-1 in front, then when Bobby Boyson converted a Jack Whalen cross York looked comfortable at 4-1.

Nottingham however gave themselves a lifeline with a fine team goal carving York’s defence open before slipping past Henry Jackson in the York net to reduce the deficit to 4-2.

Thankfully York didn’t panic and two further goals from Ben Myers and goal of the game from York’s man of the match Ryan Evans ensured York ran out comfortable 6-2 winners
